At last Blair manages to do something right....
After ten years, and on his way out, the UK Prime Minister has finally made a good decision . Although Gordon Brown also seems to be on-side, I see a distinct risk that we'll be in the strange situation of having opposition on this issue from the supposedly pro-business, pro-development Conservative party with David Cameron at the helm.
Frankly, I think the energy policy doesn't go far enough. I think there needs to be a huge set of incentives to encourage a new generation of students to study nuclear physics & engineering. There needs to be encouragement for companies to invest in developing new nuclear power station and distribution technologies.
And lastly - there needs to be a global/international process for fast-tracking the development time for nuclear fusion. Give someone like Bill Gates a reason to invest billions, and see if we can knock 10 years off the time-to-market.
